Catalytic Analysis. XXV : Microdetermination of Copper with l-Ascorbic Acid

The microdetermination of copper was carried out by applying the catalytic behaviour of copper to the oxidation of l-ascorbic acid. After copper was reacted with l-ascorbic acid for a definite time by controlling temperature, remaining l-ascorbic acid was determined colorimetrically by Folin reagent at pH 3. Then by calculating the oxidized l-ascorbic acid, copper was determined from the relation between the amount of copper and that of oxidized l-ascorbic acid, obtained previously. The optimum pH range for the reaction was 5.5 to 8.0 and copper determined was 0〜20γ.
