A female patient whose chief complaint was crossbite in the left molar region came to the university dental hospital. At the initial examination, it was judged that surgical orthodontic treatment would be necessary to correct her jaw deviation, but we decided to use camouflage treatment because the patient refused to undergo surgical correction. A stabilized splint was used for 6 months to check the original centric mandibular position. After the centric relation was confirmed, asymmetric extraction was conducted in the upper and lower dental arches to correct the midline deviation. A good occlusal relationship was successfully achieved with asymmetric extraction, which made it possible to discontinue the use of cross elastics.
