Orthodontic treatment of a patient with root resorption of a central incisor associated with an ectopically erupted maxillary canine tooth

Ectopic eruption of the maxillary canines sometimes lead to resorption of neighboring teeth. In this report, we present a patient with severe tooth crowding with ectopic eruption of the maxillary left canine. Because root resorption of the neighboring central incisor was considerable, orthodontic treatment repositioned the ectopic canine in place of the damaged central incisor. Two years after active treatment, dental occlusion remained stable with ideal overjet and overbite.
