Monitoring of Radiation and Impurity Transport in HYBTOK-I Plasma

Visible to vacuum ultraviolet light radiation was measured with a new photon detector called MCP (microchannel plate) as well as various kinds of phototubes. The radiation loss from the HYBTOK-I plasma was found to be rather small compared with the Joule input power. The spatial profile of the radiation was simulated by adjusting the impurity influx, and was consistent with the impurity transport of the neoclassical theory in the Pfirsch-Schluter region in the earlier part of discharge, while an anomaly was found in the latter half of the discharge. A scheme for monitoring the cross-section of the plasma is proposed using the MCP as a two-dimensional detector.
