Homocitrate Synthase of S-(β-Aminoethyl)-L-Cysteine Resistant Mutant of Candida pelliculosa

Incorporation of acetate into lysine and the activity of homocitrate synthase in the cells of a wild-type strain of Candida pelliculosa were strongly inhibited by L-lysine and S-(β-aminoethyl)-L-cysteine, a lysine-sulfur analog. It was shown that the synthesis of homocitrate synthase in the wild-type cells is not repressed by L-lysine. An S-(β-aminoethyl)-L-cysteine resistant mutant of C.pelliculosa, strain SR-V-1263,showed significant resistance to both compounds in the acetate incorporation and the activity of the homocitrate synthase.
