A Model Study on Cluster Size Effects of Resonant X-Ray Emission Spectra

Cluster size dependence of X-ray absorption spectra (XAS), X-ray photoetnission spectra(XPS), and resonant X-ray ernission spectra (RXBS) are theoretically studied with a one-dimensional d-p model, which describes qtnalitatively effects of trazaslational syrnmetry for 110111inally d' (or f') counpottnds such as Ti0x (CeOz). It is shown that RXES depends moresensitively on the cltrster size thatn XAS and XPS, so that RXBS is a tmseful probe in sttrdyingthe dtrality betxveen itinerant and localized characters o[' 3d or 4f electrorns, Frouta restnlts cat-ctrlated by changing the cltrster size and parataaeter' vatltnes strch as p-d hybridiz?rtion strength,d-d Cotrlomb interaction etc., it is explained why tire experira?entaI Ce 4f-3d RXES of CeO. iswell rercroduced bx calctrlations with a single-cation imr>uritv Anderson model, but the Ti 3d-2pRXES of' TiOz is not well reprodtrced.
