Magnetic and Structural Properties of Mixed-Valence Molecular Conductors (DMeDCNQI)_2Cu and (DMeODCNQI)_2Cu

Temperature dependence of magnetic susceptibilities and lattice parameters ismeasured at ambient pressure in the title compounds, which are metallic down to thelowest temperature measured and have a mixed valence state of Cu. In(DMeDCNQI).Cu an anomalously large susceptibility having a thermal hysteresis isfound in the range below TOO K. This result combined with the change in the latticeparameter tells that (DMeDCNQI).Cu is a marginal metal in which the number ofblC"' h 'h'dhhsta e u tons c anges wtt temperature.
