Temperature Dependence of the Polarized Reflectance Spectra of the θ-Type of Bis (ethylenedithio) tetrathiafulvalenium Triiodide θ-(BEDT-TTF)_2I_3:Estimation of Band Parameters

Polarized reflectance spectra in the region from 720 cm ' to 25000 cm ' weremeasured on the single crystal<cf 2-(BEDT-TTF).1., an organic superconductor, attemperatures over 16-295 K. A Drude-like spectrum was found for the first time inmetallic BEDT-TTF salts. This characteristic spectrum was attributed to the uniquestructure of the ?-type crystal. The curve-fitting analysis of ?.he spectra gave theplasma frequencies (u.).=1.05eV and (u.).=0.73eV at 16K, from which theanisotropic effective masses were evaluated to be w:=l.5m. rtnd mj=3.0m.. Thetransfer integrals and other band parameters of the tight-binding band were directlyderived from the analysis of the optical data. The transfer integrals thus obtained areZ.=0.080 eV and t.=O.O46 eV.
