• We present the polarized reflectiott spectra of' non-raaetallic DIX/ITTA-BF.1 atrtd tlae isostrtrctttral zaaetallic DIN/ITSA-BF4. Frozaa tltese spectra, botla cotaajootrtads xvere regarded as qtrasi-one-diraaetasiotaaxl condtrctors. Frouaa tlae analysis of these spectr?t xve sluow tlaat DlN'ITTA-BF4 is aNlott instrlator xvitlt U/4t $ 0.8 -1.2 and DIVITSA-BF4 is a xvesrkl3x correlated taaetsrl xvitlu strtrcttrral flucttratiora taear the [00111 tetaaperattrre. Resistix'ity, tlaeruaaopoxver, atad ESR are co?asisteratwitlt tlae aboxxe pictttre, and deuaaorastr?tte tlae jcla;tse trstnsitions at ca. 100 K for DIN/ITTA-BF4and at co. l5OK for DlNzITSA-BF,j. Tlae loxv-tetaaperattrre reflectiota spectra of both cozaapotrradsstrongly strggest tlae loreaking of screxv-axis s3'uaauaaetry alouag the condtrctitag axis. These plaasetransit.ions are regarded as tlae spin Peierls transition (DIN4TTA-BF,j) at?d Peierls (DIN4TSA-BF,j)transitiota. Asstruaaing a diuaaerized stack, xve estiraaate the traansfer integrals t3 and 72 as 0.25 atnd0.2leV fronau the IOK spectrutaa of' DlN4TSA-BF,j.
