Phonon dispersion curves of a high T. superconductor (La. .Sr.).Cu0. have beencalculated by making use of the force constants deduced from our experimentalresults of ultrasonic attenuation and sound velocity for samples (La. .Sr.).CuO.(,X'=0.07) with T. - 38 K. Calculations of the dispersion curves of BaPb. .Bi.0. hav-ing a similar crystal structure have also been made to confirm the rightness of thededuction. The results are resumed as follows: the intra-layer optic couplings betweenCu and 0 atoms and between 0 and 0 atoms in the coplanar Cub. give rise to theenergies around 21 meV and 37 men, respectively, at the Brillouin zone center. Theseoptic phonons with rather small dispersions and with a desirable symmetry propertyfor causing a strong electron-phonon interaction seem to be very favorable to con-tribute to the high T. superconductivity.
