Magnetic Property of CeNiC_2 Studied by Macroscopic and Microscopic Measurements

IVIagnetic susceptibility, specific heat, ntrclear magnetic resonance and neutron diffraction tnea-surements have been raaade to investigate the ttaagnetic property of a ternary counpound CeNiC3.Temperature variations of' magnetic stusceptibility and specific heat suggest that rtaagnetic Iransitions take place at T :: 20 K, 10 K and at 2.2 K. NlNxIR line width of "C ntrclei increasesremarkably below T : 20 K indicating the increase of transferred hyperfine field due to tnagneticorder. In the netrtron diffraction pattern below T : 20 K, additional peaks appear which indicatethe presence of long-range magnetic order. Based on these tneasureuaaents, a magnetic structuremodel of CeNiCz which involves a transition from an incomtaaensurate to a com?nensurate antiferrormagnetic order is presented.
