Low-Temperature Specific Heat,Magnetic Susceptibility and Electrical Resistivity of PrFeGe_3

We report on the magnetic properties of PrFeGe3, which exhibits no phase transitions from0.5 K to room temperature. A Ctrrie-Weiss fit of the rnagnetic susceptibility above 50 K gave aWeiss ternperature of - 1.6 K and an efl'ective rnoment of' 3.4T p.? /Pr, which is close to the valueof a Pr" free ion. The T-linear tertn 7 of the low-temperature specific heat is 17 mJ / 11101 K', andthe Debye temperature 0? obtained frorn the specific heat is 230 K. The raaagnetic contribtrtionto the specific heat and the electrical resistivity znay be explained by Bt crystalline electric field(CEF) level scherne which extends over httndreds of degrees.
