Magnetic Properties and Structural Phase Transition of CePd_2Ga_2 with CaBe_2Ge_2-type Structure

By uaaeastrring the tmagnetic strsceptibility, the specific heat arrd the electrical resistivity, xvehave investigated the low-temperattrre properties of new conapotrtuds CePdzGa3 and LaPdzGazxvith flue tetragonal CaBezGez-type strtrctture. The fornaer compotrnd shoxvs arntiferromagneticordering at 2.3 K and a structural johase transition into a triclitaic strtrcttrre at 125 K, and thelatter is strpercondtrctiu?g below' 1.9 K and show's a sitaailar strtrcttrral transition at 62 K. Frozauthe analysis of' ptrlclislued darta, it is proposed fl?at the c/a ratio tt?ay Ice a decisive parataaeter f'orthe strtrcttrral iuastability in CaBe3Ge.z-type couaapounds.
