Effect of Nonmagnetic Impurities on the Low-Temperature Susceptibility of the Linear Antiferromagnet (CH_3)_4NMnCl_3 (TMMC)

The magtvetic strsceptibilities, 777. ax'nd z.., for the field parallel atad perpendjc-ular to the chain axis are calculated exactly of 111 anisotropjc classical Heise?tbergchaiut diluted ratadontly with noutmnagntetic impurities. These inapurities break upcompletely the host chaitt itato ittdepeuadeuat segnmexats (fixaite chai?ts) with variouslengths. It is show?v that the combiraed effect of the fiuaite chaiua axad the dipolara?tisotropy leads to the crossover ita the relative values of 777. an'nc3 z.. from 777.>z.. to z..>777. at sufficiezatly low temperatures, which has recemvtly beeta obscrvedin (CH.).NMn. ,Cd.CI. (TMMC: Cd) and (CH.).NM11.-.CL1.Cl. (TMMC:Cu). Numerical results for the temperature depemtdemace of z,. and z.. of these twosystems are iua good quaxatitative agreement with the experime?ttal data.
