Modulated Phases in the Simple Hexagonal Ising Lattice with Competing Interactions

rhe rhase dianram of the Isins model on the simrle hexanonal lattice withcompeting interactions is studied within the mean-field approximation. Thestability analysis of a paramagnetic phase shows that the present model exhibitsa Lifshitz point separating the paramagnetic phase, an antiferromagnetic phaseand a modulated phase. Numerical calculations are performed to investigate asross feature of the r>hase dianram. It is shown that a larxe number of high-ordercommensurate phases are stable. The resulting phase diagram is strikingly differentfrom the corresponding phase diagram of the axial next-nearest neighbor Ising(ANNNI) model.
