Exact Ground States of the Lattice Gas Model with Two Kinds of Particles and the Finite-Field Three-Srtate Potts Model on the Square Lattice

By using the method of geometrical inequalities, the ground state of the lattice gasmodel on the square lattice in which two kinds, A and B, particles interact by pairwiseinteractions extending to the second neighbors is determined rigorously for arbitraryvalues of the particle densities. The relation V:'= V':'=2V:' is assumed for the hh(k= 1, 2) neighbor interaction constants between the A and A (V:'), B and B (V:'),and A and B (V:') particles. It is found that various ordered structures of the A andB particles appear as the ground states.
