Exact Ground State of the Finite-Field Three-State Potts Model on the One-Dimensional Lattice with First and Second Neighbor Interactions

It is shown that the lattice gas model in which two kinds of particles interact by pair-wise interactions is mathematically equivalent to the three-state Polls model under ex-ternal fields, if the A-th neighbor interaction constants between the same kinds of par-ticles are equal and if the A-th neighbor interaction constant between different kindsof particles is half of those between the same kinds. By using this equivalence togetherwith our recent result of the rigorous ground state analysis of the lattice gas model forthe case of the one-dimensional lattice with first and second neighbor interactions, theground state of the three-state Potts model for this case is determined rigorously.
