Lattice Dielectric Constant of p-PbTe in the Far-Infrared Region

Magneto-transmission measurements by a strip-line method have been carriedout on p-type PbTe whose hole concentration is 3 >< 10" cm ' at 4.2 K, in thewavelength range of 96.5 to 513.2 /Zllll using an optically pumped far-infraredlaser. It is shown that the observed transmission minima correspond to thedielectric anomaly of the ordinary ray. The frequency dependence of the latticedielectric constant has been obtained using the reported values of the effectivemass parameters. The result leads to the best fit values of the ptrrameters : e. = l 300,a.,=33 and e..(,=18 cm '
