Cyclotron Resonances in p-Ge and p-Si in Very High Magnetic Fields

Cyclotron resonance experiments for p-Ge and p-Si have been performed in very high magnetic fields at 77 K using 118.6 μm and 27.97 μm radiation from an H_2O laser. The transmission minima in the spectra show considerable shifts toward high magnetic fields comparing to those expected from the calculation by the usual Luttinger treatment. For explaining the results, we employ a correctional Hamiltonian including the effect of the spin-orbit-split-off band. The agreements of the calculated results with the spectral shifts of the resonance fields are satisfactory. In addition, the k_H effect in Si spectra is discussed.
