Far-Infrared Magnetoabsorptions of Free and Bound Excitons in Highly[111]-Stressed Germanium

Free and bound exciton states of [111]-stressed germanium in a magnetic fieldhave been investigated by means of far-infrared absorptions. The measurementsare performed at quasi-continuous photon-energies by the use of discharge-typeand optically pumped lasers. In the high stress region, the analysis of the observedfree exciton Zeeman lines is carried out by the variational calculations in a simpleband model. On the other hand, the bound exciton Zeeman lines are discussedqualitatively by donor- and acceptor-models of the excited states and in com-parison with the free exciton spectra.
