Triplet Absorption and Phase Transition in AgNa (NO_2)_2

The polarized spectra of the triplet absorption in AgNa(NO.). have beeninvestigated in the temperature range of -265 -70'C. The intensity of the E//babsorption decreases remarkably when the temperature is raised and approachesto T.. Above T., it remains constant and is about 30 'Q of the value at sufficientlylow temperatures. The intensity of the E f b absorption shows no significantchange near T.. These results are discussed in comparison with those in AgN0.and NaN0.. Discussions are also given on the temperature dependence of thetriplet absorption and the phase transition in AgNa(NO.)..
