Isotope Shifts of Zero-Phonon Transition in Highly Purified NaNO_2 Crystal

Low temperature optical spectra of highly purified NaNO. crystals have beeninvestigated in near uv region. The width of the zero-phonon absorption line at v..due to the electronic transition 'A. -+'B. in NO.- is remarkably reduced in thepurified crystal and three satellite absorption lines arc observed separately fromthe high energy tail of the strong zero-phonon absorption line. The energy separa-tions of these lines from vo o are 4fl, 6 l: l and 7.5 i l cm ' and arc identified asthe isotore shifts of the zero-rhonon transitton in NO"0 ,NO"0 and"NO.-,respectively.
