The low frequency dielectric constant of thiourea exhibits a sharp peak reaching10' - 10' at 161 .6 K (77.) in the ferroelectric phase. From the study of the effects of dcand ac fields on this anomaly, we infer that the anomaly is produced by domaun wallmotion. While the static dielectric constant tends to diverge toward f., the dielectricrelaxation time never shows a slowing down. This fact and the result of switching experiments suggest strongly that the anomalous increase in the dielectric constant iscaused not by the softening in the restoring force acting on domain walls, but by theanomalous increase in the domain wall density. A tentative model is proposed whuchis capable of explainung this anomalous phenomenon.[thiourea, ferroelectric phase, dielectric anomaly, domain wall motion, domain ]l wall density, dielectric measurementsl
