The reduced activity of Na^+, K^+-ATPase due to PMS+VC was reversed by noradrenaline. Then the effects of several catecholamines including noradrenaline, adrenaline, dopamine and isopropylarterenol were examined. All applied catecholamines reversed the reduced enzyme activity. Isopropylarterenol which is an agonist on β-sympathetic receptor expressed the highest reversing effect among these catecholamines. Then β-blocker and α-blocker of catecholamine receptors were investigated on their effects on the adrenaline reversing activity. The adrenaline induced reversal was not affected by DCI and phenoxybenzamine which are β-antagonist and α-antagonist respectively. Cyclic AMP which is a second messenger of β-catecholamine action and cyclic AMP+protein kinase did not mimic the reversing action of catecholamines. Then it is concluded from these results that the reversing action of catecholamines is not mediated by catecholamine receptor.
