<Short Communications>Antagonism of Respiratory Inhibiters on the Effect of PMS+Vitamine C on Na^+, K^+-ATPase Preparation

The effect of several inhibiters of oxidative phosphorylation were investigated on the inhibitory action of PMS (Phenazine methosulfate)+VC (Vitamine C) on Na^+, K^+-ATPase and K^+-dependent phosphatase activities in membrane preparation from kidney of guinea pig. Respiratory inhibiters, Cyanide and Antimycin antagonized the inhibitory action of PMS+VC on both Na^+, K^+-ATPase and K^+-dependent phosphatase activities without any effect on control enzyme activities. Another respiratory inhibiter, sodium azide however did not antagonize on the effect of PMS+VC. An uncoupler, CCCP (Carbonyl Cyanide m-Chlorophenylhydrazone) had no effect on the effcet of PMS+VC and enzyme activities. An inhibiter of enzyme transfer, Oligomycin also did not affect on the effect of PMS+VC, but Oligomycin showed inhibition on Na^+, K^+-ATPase activity of control enzyme and scarce inhibition on K^+-dependent phosphatase activity.
