Optical Properties of Terahertz Wave Emitter Fabricated by Using CdxZn1-xTe Single Crystals

The optical properties of terahertz wave emitters fabricated using CdxZn1-xTe crystals were investigated by using a femtosecond Ti : sapphire laser. The optical results for the $\langle 110\rangle$-oriented CdxZn1-xTe crystal emitters indicated that the optimum Cd mole fraction in the CdxZn1-xTe emitters was 0.05. The luminescence colors were significantly affected by the Cd mole fraction in the CdxZn1-xTe emitters. The present results indicate that CdxZn1-xTe emitters hold promise for potential applications in electro-optic devices operating in the terahertz spectral range.
