A Case of Perforated Simple Ulcer of the Cecum in a Child.

We report a relatively rare case of perforated simple ulcer of the cecum in a child.<BR>A 14-year-old boy was admitted because of severe abdominal pain, high fever, and vomitting. The abdomen was distensd and hard, both muscle defence and Blumberg'sign were postive. Laboratory data showed leucocytosis (11300/mm3) and increases in CRP (14.33 mg/dl), and ESR (60mm/hour). Abdominal X rays showed 'Neveau'. Urgent partial cecetomy, and abdominal cavity drainage were performed. The resected specimen showed 2 cecum ulcer perforations on the antimesenteric side. The ulcers were punched-out, oval with undermining mergins. Histological examination revealed non-specific ulcer perforation of cecum, with the surrounding area being negative for tuberculosis.<BR>The post operative course was uneventful and barium enema showed no remarkble findings. There was no clear evidence of Behçet's disease. We finally diagnosed simple ulcer of the cecum.
