From a MeOH extract of Chrysosplenium japonicum MAXIM. (Saxifragaceae), two cytotoxic principles were isolated and identified as β-peltoboykinolic acid (I) and cucurbitacin B (2). This is the first report on the isolation of cucurbitacins from the Saxifragaceae family. The ^<13>C-NMR of two chrysosplenols B (3) and D (4), also contained in the plant are reported.
