Two cytotoxic constituents, butyrylmallotojaponin (2) and isobutyrylmallotojaponin (3), were isolated from the cytotoxic fraction of the leaves of female Mai lot us japonic us MUELL. ARG (Euphorbiaceae) together with 2,6-dihydroxy-3-methyl-4-methoxyacetophenone (1), scopoletin (4), nasutin B (5) and nasutin C (6). Compounds 2 and 3 were found to be multiple-cytotoxic to the KB cell line. The methanol extract of the leaves of the male trees was not found to have a cytotoxic activity on the KB cells.
