• From the bacterial gall of Myrica ritbra, a new [7,0]-metacyclophan (1) was isolated together with three known compounds, myricanone (2), person (3) and myricanol (4). The structure of the new compound was elucidated to be 5-deoxymyricanone (1) on the basis of spectroscopic evidence. The possible intermediacy of 1 in the biosynthesis of 2,3 and 4 is discussed. _<DL>-β-Phenyllactic acid was also isolated from the culture of Pseudomonas syringae pv. myricae pathogenic to the plant.
