Viscous Potential Flow Analysis of Kelvin-Helmholtz and Capillary Instabilities of Annular Compound Jet (II)

Viscous potential flow analysis is made of Kelvin-Helmholtz and capillary instabilities of annular compound jet of three fluids, in which the viscous stresses are taken into account in the normal stress balance at the interfaces. The dispersion relation is expressed as a quartic equation of angular frequency for temporal instability, while it is expressed as a transcendental function of wavenumber for spatial instability. It is revealed that two critical velocities may give the border of absolute and convective instabilities.
