Education materials on Computational Mechanics of Materials are updated systematically in accordance with FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) handbook. An Euler-Bernoulli beam equation, one of the most representative items in this mechanics, is expanded in a series of papers from the fundamentals of elastic theory to engineering applications for the beam oscillations using a new application software. The first paper provides derivation of Euler-Bernoulli type beam equation analytically based on the linear elastic theory, which governs the oscillatory motion of thin elastic plate due to bending force. Two papers follow are for numerical computations and graphical presentations.
