A Comment on Two-Phase Flows in a System of Underground Pipelines

A plan for underground pipelines was presented to take precautions against floods. To simulate and to estimate the two-phase (water-air) flows to arise in the system of underground pipelines, a miniature apparatus scaled to 1/100 was set up in a laboratory. Based upon the results of experiments with the apparatus, some typical hydraulic phenomena are discussed from the standpoint of fluid mechanics. In particular, attention is paid to an air-cavity with "bore" which runs in a horizontal circular nine filled with water.
