A Compactly Integrated Random-Signal Source Using Chaos Multivibrator

A novel random-signal source has been designed and fabricated by using compelmentary metal-oxide-silicon(CMOS)chaos multivibrator. When the outputs of two multivibrators are summed, a signal with sufficient randomness was obtained. This circuit can be integrated within an area comparable to that of 2 or 3 units of flip-flop circuits and can be operated with a delay time nearly equal to that of 3 stages of logic gates. These features promise the useful application of this signal source in various novel information-processing LSIs.
