A rapid measuring system for the stress/strain distribution in a sample has been developed by the use of the position sensitive proportional counter (PSPC) X-ray system and the X-Y scanning system controlled by the computer system. Its performance is demonstrated for the aluminum plate specimen with a central hole under uniaxial tensile stresses. d(422) values of 40 × 40 points on the specimen have been obtained automatically during about three hours. Furthermore, these data can be transformed to the equi-stress/strain map automatically.
