The influence of base materials on the characteristics of zinc electroplates and whisker formations was investigated for zinc with a (0002) preferred orientation and silicon steel with (110) oriented grains. As the electroplated thickness increased, the (1120) texture increased, while the number of whiskers and nodules formed on these electroplates increased at first steeply and then decreased slowly.
