• 3,3-Disubstituted-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline-2,4-diones were prepared by alkylation of 3-substituted-4-hydroxy-2 (1H)-quinolones or cyclization of 2,2-distubstituted malonanilic acids with PPA. Degradation of 3-nitro-3-phenyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline-2,4-dione(XXV) was studied as shown in Chart 2. Synthesis of 3-phenyl-4-hydroxy-2 (1H)-quinolone (XI) derivatives having substituted benzene, and aminoalkylation and acylation of XI were carried out. The deshielding influence of 4-hydroxy group of 4-hydroxy-2 (1H)-quinolones to 5-proton in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra was discussed.
