Time Evolution of Beam Energy Distribution and Perpendicular Velocity Scattering due to Strong Langmuir Turbulence

Our recent works, which were based on the spectroscopic nueasurenaent of strong high frequencyelectric fields in a plasma, showed that the plaszna becarme a strong Langrnuir turbulerrce statewhen an intense relativistic electron beam was injected into it. To ftrrther confirrta this the energyspread and the perpendictrlar velocity scattering of beam electrons after passing the plasma weretreasured as well as the strong high freqttency electric fields and the electron temperature. Thetheory of transit-tizaue interactions which deals with the beazta scattering in strong Langznuirturbtulence was applied to interpret the experiuaaental data, The result again shows that theplasma beconaes a strong Langmuir turbtrlence state. The broadband rtaicrowave radiation wasalso observed siuntrltaneotrsly with the naeastrrement of the perpendicular scattering of the beamelectrons. The wider the energy spread and the perpendicular scattering, the stronger themicrowave radiation,
