Quasi One-Dimensional Spin System in Langmuir-Blodgett Films of a Charge-Transfer Complex

The ESR spectra of conductive Langmuir'-Blodgett (LB) filxns of N-docosylpyridinium-(TCNQ). are observed at tlae X and K bands. Tlae spectrumsimulation naet1?od is adopted to analyze these spectra, wlaiclt SIIOW clear out-of-planeanisotropy, in order to obtain informatioxa concernixag the magnetic and structuralproperties of the systexn. Tlte axaalysis reveals t1?at llae lixaew'idth axaisotropy isdominated by the exchange-narrowed secular dipolar widtla peculiar to quasi one-dimensional sjoixx systexns. Tlais result is consistent witla llte tenaperature dependentspin susceptibility<lata of tlve system, v,'laicla has been found to be explained by tlterandom-exchange lleisexaberg antiferromagnetic c]?ain nvodel. Tltese facts indicatetlte development of one-dimensional spin cltains in tlae LB films.
