• The .S= l anUiferromagneVic Heisextberg cltain in a nt;ngxtclic Iicld along the ;-axis atT = O is studied by nttnverical diagoutalizations up to N = 16 and an analysis of size corrections. We check that the system obeys the conl'ornval I'?eId theory with the centralcltarge c= l 111 a magnetic state (0< /77< 1 ). We investigate the asymptotic form of thetransverse and parallel spin correlations amtd give [l1Cl' exjconenUs t7 and q', defined by<,55,S)>:( -l)'/' "and<S,;S;>-/77':C0S(2/0/')/' ". W'e determine 7=1/2andr7'=2 at /77=0 and 1. In addition, w'e check the relation t7r7'= l, which is consistentwith the Luttinger liquid conce)cl. In terms ol' tltc concept, the axtomalies ofmagnetnzatxon at 777=O at?d 1 are discttssed.
