The antiferromagnetic Heisenberg spin systetns on the three-leg ladder ?xre investigtrted. Periodic botrndary condition is imjcosed in the rtrng direction. The systetaa has an excitation gap f'or allantiferrounagnetic inter-chain cotrpling (Jj- >O). The estiuaaated gap f'or the strong cotrpling liunit(J.?/J? + cx) is 0.28.7). Althotrgh the interactior't is honuogeneotts and only nearest-neighbor,tl?e grotrnd states of the systena are diuaaerized ?trad break tlue translational symrnetry in thethermodynarnic lirnit. Introducing the next-nearest neighbor cottpling (.7z), we C2111 see that thesystem is solved exactly. The grotrnd state xvave f'ttnction is coznpletely dimer-ordered. Usingdensity raaatrix renornalization grotup algorithun, we show nunaer'ically that the original uaaodel(J3 : 0) has the sauaue nattzre xvith tlae exactly solvable model. The ground state properties of'the ladder with a higher odd nttrnber of legs are also disctussed.
