One-dirnensional S : l spin systems xvith bond alternation (.7) and J2) and single-ionanisotropy (Dz) are sttudied. We ntrrnerically diagonalize the Hamiltonians of finite size Lipto ten spins and calctrlate the teunperatture dependence of the susceptibility. The theoreticalcurves are applied to analyze the susceptibilities of {Niz(EDTA)(H30),j}..?(2HzO). (EDTA:ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) and [{Nix(Medpt)x(p-ox)(p-Na)}.1(CIO,t)n (lMedpt=rnethyl-bis(3-aminorrorvl)amine). The estiznated results of Jx/Jn :: 0.26, D./Jn = 0,17, (,71 , 13K) for {N12(EDTA)(H20)4}.'(2H2O).. and ,72/,71 : 0.30, D./Jn = 0.07, (.7u x 43 K) f'or[{lNix(lVIedpt)z(p-ox)(p.-Na)}nl(CIO,t). are presented. We find that both are systenas with thesinglet-dinaer ground state.
