• We have studied crystal strttctures of a Ni bond alternating chain compound [{Niz (lVIedpt)3 (pox)(p-N3)}..1 {(CIO,j)?O.5HzO},. (lVIedpt:methyl-bis(3-azninopropyl)amine, OX:C204) (1) anda Ni dirner compound [Niz(dpt)3(7?-ox)(HzO)zl (N03)(PF(,) (dpt::bis(3-anainopropyl)anaine)(2) by x-ray diffraction. Both title conapotrnds crystallize in the triclinic system,space grotrp PI with fw =646.41, a =8.032(1)A, b =l3.436(l)A, c =13.968(2)A, cx =63.84(l)',/V=8O.54(l)', 7 =8l.29(l)', V =1329.3(2)A', Z =2, R =O.067 and R= =O.O75 for 1 andwith fw =710.88, a =8.8l4(1)A, b =l2.255(1)A, c =l3.487(l)A, (J =81.l6(1)', /3 =S9.57(1)','y=88.53(l)', X/::1439.0(l)A', Zm2, 7?:0,059 and R,.:0.068 for 2. The difference of chain strtrc-tures between l and a similar bond alternating compound [{Nix(dpt)z(p-ox)(p-Na)}.1(PFo)n isdisctrssed.
