Brownian Motion of a Soliton in trans-Polyacetylene.I.Random Walk Mechanism

Diffusive motion of a soliton in trans-polyacetylene is studied theoretically withinthe adiabatic approximation of the Takayama l,in-Liu and Maki model. The collec-five coordinate method is applied to obtain an equation of motion of the soliton. Itbears a remarkable similarity to that in the</>' model. Shift of the soliton location is in-duced by collision with classical phonon, which is excited thermally. It leads to a ran-dom walk of the soliton. The dynamical diffusion constant D(u) and the frictionT(co) are calculated in the low temperature expansion. Itis shown that the real part ofD(co) is proportional to T', when the frequency is not zero and f(a) is larger thanf(0). Its magnitude is hundred times as large as that of the</>' kink.
