A Theory for a Self-Trapped Molecular Magnetic Polaron in Ferromagnetic Semiconductor

Properties and stability conditions for a self-trapped molecular magneticpolaron in ferromagnetic semiconductors, in which two electrons are trappedin a self-induced localized spin polarization through the strong d-f exchangeinteraction, are investigated theoretically in particulaly for Eu0 and EuS numer-ically. It is shown that the molecular magnetic polaron Cll'l be more stable thantwo single magnetic po]aron.s near Curie temperature if the material has manyvalley band structures and large dielectric constant. The dependences of the freeenergy of the molecular polaron as well as the single po[aron on the effectiveelectron mass, the Curie temperature and d-f exchange interaction were studied.The possibility of the molecular polaron in EuO and EuS is discussed. Effect ofthe anisotropic effective mass was also studied b?y the molecular field theory andwas shown that it is not important.
