^<31>P Nuclear Magnetic Relaxation Studies of the Dynamical Magnetic Behavior of UP

"P nuclear magnetic relaxation has been utilized to study the spin dynamics of U 5fmoments in the antiferromagnetic uranium compound UP ita the paramagnetic stateup to 800 K. The nuclear spin-lattice relaxation time T. increases almost linearly withtemperature above about 300 K. Evaluating the transferred hyperfine coupling con-slants due to up to the second nearest-neighbor U tons, the relaxation rate 1 / r. of U5f moments is deduced. h/ if is found to be comparable to the thermal energy k.T andto increase almost linearly with temperature above about 300 K.
