An Improved Cluster Approximation for Antiferromagnet

Cluster approximation for the antiferromagnets is iznproved by extending theeffective Hamiltoniamt method so that there appears no anti-N6el point. It is appliedto the .S'=1/2 antiferromagnet on a square lattice with anisotropic exchangeinteraction which includes the anisotropy parameter 77. This system is reducedto the Heisenberg model or to the Ising model according as 7/ goes to l or 0.The variations of the N<Set point T. and the specific heat with t7 are calculated.The results of the specific heat curves for jk0.9 exhibit a broad maximumabove T.z where a small spike appears.
