wy applying the method of symmetry breaking potential to the three directionmodel of hard rods with an attractive r>air interaction, the effect of pressure onthe Nematic-Smectic A transition is investigated. The curve of that transitiontemr>erature versus r:>ressure as well as some other results anree with the experi..mental results cmualitativelv. It is shown that the tricritical point is possible toar:>r>ear on that curve, b>' r>a>'ins attention on the effect of attractive pair potential.
