The effect of hard core on absorption in proton-proton collision up to a few GeV is examined by a spinless two channel model with p+p→p+p and p+p→p+N^*. It is shown that the strong s-wave absorption can be obtained for the energy near the inelastic threshold even in the presence of hard core. The importance of the non-local real potential due to the competing inelastic processes is emphasized on the problem of hard core.
