During the one year period from January to December of 1977 the examination had held for the women being over 30 years of age who lived in the towns of Sayama and Mihara under the control of Sayama Public Health Center following the program of Japanese Research Society for Breast Cancer simultaneously with the examination of uterine cancer. Of 809 examinees in total 116 persons (14.3%) needed further examination which revealed breast cancer in one of the 116 subjects (0.1%), which shows a fairly low finding rate. This result may be attributed to the fact that 51.3% of the examinees were in 30s, the next majority being in 40s. For the future the high risk group and methods of screening must be studied ; in other words, the establishment of mass screening center is urgently desired.
